The myth about tea

What is so UNIQUE about 101 GREEN TEA?
101 TEA Plantation produces a complete line of green and oolong teas. While many tea makers, produce non-fermented green tea, this type of tea is NOT recommended to drink before a meal. That is because it may be harsh on the stomach. Our green tea is slightly fermented so it is very gentle to the stomach. In addition, our tea is harvested from tea plantations in several high-elevation mountains in Taiwan. Our tea is astoundingly refreshing and yet provides a robust flavor that can last for several brewings.

Contrary to public perceptions, 101 Tea Plantation's oolong tea is NOT a black tea. We produce a honey-green tea color in all of our oolong teas. It is similar in color to our pearl orchid or deluxe green tea.

The best tea does NOT need any additives to enhance the tea's flavor. Our high mountain tea has a natural floral or sweet taste as a result of photosynthesis with sun, and mist from the plantation's high elevation. We produce only natural and original flavored teas.

Our Mission

Process 1: Tea Nursery
Small grafted tea leaves (one stem with two leaves) in the tea nursery. It takes about 8 to 12 months before they are taken to the tea plantation for transplanting.

Process 2: Harvest Time
The majority of our teas are hand-picked by our plantation workers.

Process 3: Dehydration
After being sun-dried and naturally oxidized, the tea leaves are now placed in a mixer which brings out the tea's natural aroma.

Process 4: Purification
After the 4th mixing has brought out all the natural aromas of the tea, the fermentation process is completed without the use of any additives or artificial flavors.

Process 5: Roasting
Tea leaves are now pan-fried at a high temperature (nearly 200 degrees Celsius) to prevent further fermentation of the leaves.

Process 6: Kneading
Tea kneader: it will evenly distribute the tea juice over the leaves.

Process 7: Drying
The final process. After being kneaded by the machine and pressed with a cloth, the tea leaves are ready for a 2 time drying process at 120 degrees Celsius before being packaged.
